GOOLWA CRICKET CLUB
Respecting the Past, Building the Future

WELCOME
The Goolwa Cricket Club warmly welcomes players—both new and returning—as well as parents and caregivers to join us for the upcoming season. Our Club fosters a friendly, supportive, and inclusive environment, with an active off-field social scene and a shared passion for enjoying the game of cricket. As GOLD level Good Sports Club, we have established effective policies and action plans to ensure a safe and family-friendly atmosphere. We aim to keep our fees affordable. Junior players pay no fees to the Club, only the National Registration fee to Cricket Australia, which is currently $16. At this time, senior registration playHQ fees have increased from $22.50 to 36.50 so we have set our fees at $165, to include both the National Registration fee and GSCA fees. We do have some reduced fees for short term players.
Our Teams & Programs

The Goolwa Cricket Club has a range of grades and teams to suit all levels of ability.
At the top end our A Grade team is in one of its most successful eras and has only missed the finals twice in the last 11 years. However, we are still chasing an elusive premiership. Since 2023-24 we have a state-of-the-art practice facility, a new clubroom, electronic scoreboard, and perhaps the best oval in the Association. It is a great time to join our Club and play in our top side.

In 2024-25 we had a B Grade team who had a great season finishing 3rd. They are a mixture of young and experienced cricketers who hope to keep striving to get into the A grade.
Our C1 grade team were runner ups in 2023-24 and premiers in 2021-22. They went up to the B Grade in 2024-25 and had a great season finishing 3rd. The C1 grade is a one 2 day competition. They are a mixture of young and experienced cricketers who hope to keep striving to get into the higher grades.
Our C2 team includes some of the veterans of our Club, many of whom are past premiership players and who still play for the love of the game. They were well supported by some new players last year and this year we expect to see some of our junior players play games (some with their fathers) No matter what the final score they enjoy the game and the after match review back in the clubrooms where they discuss how lucky or unlucky their day went.

The Club is keen to get an Under 14s and U16s team together this year to build our future for the Club. Practices will start for all Juniors on Wednesday 17th of September from 4.00.
Under 12s will also practice on those Wednesdays. teams will be formed if we have enough numbers. Contact the Club for details.
Woolworths blasters will start in term 4 on Thursdays beginning October 30th from 4.45- 6.00 for 5-6 weeks.

Our Under 12's Junior teams plays on Friday nights from 4.30 to approx 7.30 and is a modified rules match with each pair of batters facing 4 overs so that everyone gets a bat and bowl. It is a great fun night with the players gaining valuable cricket skills as well as learning how to enjoy a team environment with their local friends. The parents also have a great time watching and encouraging their children and seeing them gain confidence and those other life skills that come from playing any sport.
Ages range from 9 - 12 and many teams have a mixture of boys and girls playing. At the change of innings the home clubs put on a BBQ and for parents it's a good social end to the week.
Our coach Luke Giddings is a graduate of our first Under 12s team from the 1980s and is fantastic with the kids and at the end of every match goes through the highlights of what the team did well and awards a person of the match.

LATEST CLUB NEWS
25-26

We are very happy to welcome Rhys Allard and Rory Hanson to our club.
Rhys brings a wealth of experience winning premierships at Reynella and Willunga. He will not only add to our club on the field with his batting skills but add valuable coaching off it.
We also welcome his Wife Jodie and boys Ayce and Delahney.
Rory comes to the club after taking on numerous roles at his previous club including being A grade captain. He will offer us plenty with bat being able to bat anywhere in the line up, offer some handy mediums with the ball but is also a highly regarded fielder. We also welcome his wife Nic and boys Sam, Benji, Archer and Oaklen.
We look forward to seeing them perform in the black and white this upcoming season

The club would like to announce that Matt Overall will continue as coach this year but also take over the captaincy of the A grade.
Matt came back to the club last year and as he does won all the association awards helping us get back into finals and bring back a lot of energy to our “old” players.
Matt’s invested in us being a competitive club in the years to come and looks forward to continue to build a culture where players want to join us.
We would like to also take this time to thank Sam Carlyle for all his efforts over the last few years as captain. He’s done a fantastic job not only on the field with results but the way the boys go about the game earning the respect of many players and clubs in the association.
